Divorce & Discovery
Finding Wholeness Among the Broken Pieces
90 Minute Online Workshop
September 16, 2026
PT: 5 PM / CT: 7 PM / ET: 8 PM
Divorce can be one of life's most painful transitions, but you don't have to navigate it alone.
Join us for a 90-minute virtual workshop of healing, connection, laughter, and Jewish wisdom designed especially for adults who are divorced or in the process of divorce.
The Talmud teaches that the broken tablets from Sinai were placed in the Ark right alongside the whole ones — brokenness, too, is holy. Join Rabbis Deborah Newbrun and Ezra Weinberg for an intimate online session for anyone navigating divorce: story-sharing, text study, and a simple paper-tearing ritual to name what you're releasing and what wisdom you're carrying forward. Bring paper, a pen, and an open heart.
You are a tablet: perhaps shattered, definitely sacred, still being carried forward.

Who
Anyone who has navigated the multi-faceted challenges of divorce or the end of a long-term relationship, and is seeking healing, reflection, and renewal within a warm, accepting Jewish community.
This workshop welcomes adults of all ages who are longing for meaningful connections and Jewish wisdom to help guide them forward.
Why?
Judaism offers guidance for many of life’s milestones; birth, marriage, and death through prayers, rituals, and communal support that honor these sacred rites of passage. Yet when it comes to divorce, Jewish tradition has historically offered only the get, the legal document marking the end of a marriage.
This workshop seeks to fill that void.
This is a brave space, a place to be witnessed, to study ancient text alongside your own story, and to leave with something tangible to carry forward.
You'll be invited to:
Share your own divorce story in a small, held circle
Study Talmudic and Kabbalistic texts on brokenness and repair
Take part in a simple paper-tearing ritual naming what you're releasing, and what wisdom you're carrying forward
Close with a blessing for healing and wholeness
Cost
This virtual workshop is $72. If you are a program alumnus, we offer a 10% discount.
What Past Participants are Saying
“It turns out, what I really needed for full closure and to move into my future with hope and optimism was healing in my own language, in my own culture.”
“Divorce and Discovery is really a special experience. Applying and adapting Jewish teaching to this life experience is meaningful and helpful. However, the most special part is being in this vulnerable and supportive community with others going through a similar experience.”
“The Divorce and Discovery workshop included things I didn’t know I wanted but I certainly needed. I’m so glad there is something like this for the Jewish community.”
